Geneva, April 7 / WAM / The World Health Organization stressed today, Sunday, that health is a human right, calling for urgent measures to be taken to reduce inequalities in health, protect human rights, and give priority to the needs of the most vulnerable groups.
The organization stated, in a statement on its official website on the occasion of World Health Day, which falls on April 7 of each year, that it chose the slogan for World Health Day 2024 to be “My health is my right,” stressing that the issue of health is extremely important in the Eastern Mediterranean region, which includes 38% Of all those in need of humanitarian assistance around the world.
The organization warned of the danger of conflicts and natural disasters in preventing access to quality health care, stressing that there is a long way to achieve universal health coverage and other sustainable development goals related to health, stressing the need for countries to invest in strong and comprehensive health systems, to ensure everyone’s enjoyment in their lives. As healthy as possible.
She stressed the need for countries to address the basic determinants of health, such as poverty, gender inequality and climate change, noting that she will continue to cooperate with countries to enhance health care and support health workers.
The organization called on governments, health care workers and other partners to “renew commitment to our common mission.”
