ABU DHABI, 7 April / WAM / A group of students from the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy completed a two-week educational trip, during which they visited major institutions in several countries such as Italy, Switzerland, the United States, India and Ethiopia.

This annual trip, which is an integral part of the academy’s students’ practical training, provides the opportunity to acquire practical skills and realistic applications of diplomacy by learning about the views and concepts related to sustainable development at the international level, as well as the challenges of bilateral and multilateral diplomacy and foreign policies.

His Excellency Nikolai Mladenov, Director General of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy, said: “We are committed to preparing a qualified generation of diplomats to face global challenges. By involving our students in visits to major diplomatic institutions and centers in Rome, Geneva, Washington, New Delhi, and Addis Ababa, we provide them with a comprehensive understanding of the reality of governance and policies.” Foreign Affairs.

He added that these experiences strengthen their mutual relationships and enable them to build a wide network of strategic relationships, thus preparing them to achieve their future academic endeavors.

For his part, Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Dhaheri, Deputy Director General of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy, said: “The Academy organizes annual student trips to provide an innovative educational experience that allows them to learn about different points of view in the field of diplomacy. For some students, this may be their first experience in which they witness… This amazing cultural diversity in various parts of the world, so the academy’s students live a live experience that helps them understand the tasks of modern diplomats through lively interaction and discussions that enhance their knowledge and experience.”

The students of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy participated in a variety of activities, including meetings, social events, and guided tours, which contributed to enhancing their knowledge and understanding of the great role associated with representing the UAE in international forums, and encouraging them to interact and participate in activities related to foreign policy. The students also attended ceremonies. Signing agreements and memorandums of understanding provided them with a practical and realistic experience of diplomacy.

In New Delhi, the students were hosted at the Indian Institute of Technology’s Center for Innovative Research, where they participated in lively discussions at the Ministry of External Affairs.

In Addis Ababa, the students visited the headquarters of the African Union and joined a dinner hosted by the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Addis Ababa, which allowed them to build important diplomatic relations.

In addition, students participated in discussions at the Institute of Foreign Affairs, where they examined Ethiopian foreign policy priorities and regional developments of interest.

In Rome, the students participated in a course on artificial intelligence and diplomacy at Italy’s Luis University and learned about the United Nations World Food Programme.

In Washington, the students met with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Benaim and participated in a dialogue with the US-UAE Business Council.

All of these activities and rich discussions allowed the academy’s students to enhance their understanding of diplomacy, and enabled them to communicate and engage with a distinguished group of diplomats and leaders.

Regarding her experience during the trip, student Maryam Al-Mansouri said: “This trip enabled us to learn about the culture and efforts of each country, and pushed us to gain an accurate understanding of their diplomatic practices, how to deal with their challenges, and a glimpse of their achievements. The trip helped expand my horizons and awareness of the global diplomatic scene.”

For his part, student Hamdan Al-Naqbi said: “I am happy that just a few weeks of practical diplomatic experience were enough to enhance my skills and knowledge about diplomacy. This trip taught me the importance of exchanging cultures and accepting cultural diversity, and helped me form a deeper understanding of how to deal with the complexities and challenges of the contemporary world.”
