The number of flights between the UAE and Saudi Arabia increased to 383 weekly flights during Ramadan

Abu Dhabi, 8 April / WAM / Air traffic between the UAE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing a noticeable recovery amid an increasing demand from those wishing to perform Umrah rituals during the holy month of Ramadan, and it reaches its peak during the last ten days of the Holy Month.

The General Civil Aviation Authority confirmed to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that the number of flights between the Emirates and the Kingdom increased by 13.3% during last March, which witnessed the beginning of the month of Ramadan, to about 383 weekly flights, compared to about 338 weekly flights last February.

The authority explained that “Flydubai” increased its flights to the Kingdom by 40% from 93 weekly flights last February to 130 flights in March, including the destinations of Abha, Jizan, NEOM, Al-Ula, Qaisumah, Dammam, Qassim, Hail, Al-Hofuf, Jeddah, and Riyadh. Medina, Taif, Yanbu, Najran, and Tabuk.

The authority indicated that Etihad Airways increased its flights to the Kingdom by more than 22.2% from 63 flights last February to 77 flights in March, including destinations in Dammam, Jeddah and Riyadh.

According to the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Emirates flights reached the Kingdom for about 67 weekly flights in March, including Dammam, Jeddah, Medina, and Riyadh, while Wizz Air Abu Dhabi flights reached about 21 weekly flights, including Dammam and Medina, while Air Arabia flights reached about 88 flights. Weekly, including Abha, Al-Jawf, Dammam, Al-Qassim, Hail, Jeddah, Medina, Riyadh, Taif, Yanbu, and Tabuk.

Etihad Airways said that the carrier succeeded during the month of Ramadan and the Umrah season, from March 11 to April 7, in transporting about 45,000 passengers to its destinations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

She added that Jeddah emerged as the best choice for travelers among Etihad Airways destinations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the month of Ramadan, as flights to Jeddah achieved a passenger occupancy rate exceeding 95%, which reflects the high demand and efficient service.

She pointed out that the most important destinations for travelers to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during this period come from the Emirates, India, Pakistan and Indonesia, where Etihad Airways operates flights to three destinations in the Kingdom using a variety of aircraft types, including Dammam and Riyadh using Airbus aircraft. A320, while Airbus A320, Boeing 777 and Boeing 787 are used for Jeddah flights.

She explained that as of last March 15, Etihad Airways had permanently increased its services to Jeddah and Riyadh, and the company now operates a total of 77 weekly flights, distributed as 28 flights to Jeddah, 28 flights to Riyadh, and 21 flights to Dammam.
