'Angry, sad' Cook speaks out after Rabbitohs axing
UPDATED: Damien Cook says he is “angry” after being axed by South Sydney as the club scrambles to get its season back on track.
The Rabbitohs face the Sharks on Saturday in what could be Jason Demetriou’s last game as coach of the team.
Reports claim Bunnies powerbrokers will meet next week to discuss Demetriou’s immediate future, and he could be sacked during the team’s bye week after losing four of their first five games of 2024.
Demetriou sensationally dumped Origin hooker Cook from the team on Tuesday.
“Of course I’m angry,” Cook told radio show Big Sports Breakfast on Wednesday.
“I’m frustrated, angry, sad. I had all the emotions yesterday.
“I do want to be out there on the field giving my best for the team, to try and get us out of where we are.
“A couple of losses this year – not the best start to the season.
