Democrats in the US House of Representatives demand guarantees before sending the F-15 to Israel

US Democratic Representative Gregory Meeks, the ranking member of the US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, said on Tuesday that he wants “guarantees” Before agreeing to sell F-15 fighter jets to Israel amid its war with Hamas.

Meeks said during an interview reported by “The Hill” newspaper: American: “I am waiting for confirmations. When I return to Washington, D.C., I want to make sure that I know the types of weapons and the purpose for which the weapons will be used.”

Meeks continued: “For example, I think this It’s enough – Enough with what is happening in Gaza, I think Hamas needs to release the hostages now, and there must be pressure on Hamas to release the hostages, and I think this is what people in Israel are crying about. I believe that this indiscriminate bombing is enough.”

The Hill newspaper confirmed: Last week, the administration of US President Joe Biden was considering selling new weapons to Israel. The report comes amid increasing pressure on the White House to stop arms sales to its old ally in the face of civilian casualties in Gaza. Politico first reported that the potential sale would include up to 50 new F-15 fighter jets and 30 AIM-120 advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles.

Meeks’ comments come less than A week after US Senator Elizabeth Warren announced that she would move to block the sale of F-15 aircraft to Israel, following an Israeli air strike that killed seven aid workers at World Central Kitchen in Gaza last week.
