Morocco: A bank official embezzles a million dollars and disappears
Moroccan media said on Tuesday that a responsible employee at a banking agency in the city of Fez, in the far north-east of the kingdom, embezzled nearly a billion centimes (about a million dollars) and disappeared from sight, noting that the robbery was shrouded in a lot of mystery.< /p>
It stated that the incident mobilized the central interests of the targeted banking agency, as it dissolved a mixed committee that included senior officials in the central administration to determine its merits.
The elements of the aforementioned committee had opened a thorough investigation into this controversial issue. Accordingly, an accurate inventory was carried out of all financial transactions and transfers carried out by the bank official.
It was found that the employee used the funds in his custody to make financial transfers to his own account and to other accounts that likely belonged to some of his relatives and acquaintances, while the operation was carried out in various ways. It was described as being not devoid of deception and fraud under the negligence of some officials in charge of tracking all financial operations.
