Russia turned to Kazakhstan with a request to supply 100 thousand tons of gasoline in case of fuel shortage. About it writes Reuters, citing three sources. One of the interlocutors said that the deal has already been agreed upon.

The Kazakh authorities denied this information. “Such a request has not been received from the Russian Ministry of Energy,” Shyngys Ilyasov, adviser to the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, quotes. “Interfax”.

The reason for such a request from the Russian authorities is provided by the sources of the publication “Important Stories” see The fact is that the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strikes disabled more than 15% of Russian oil refining capacities.

“Depending on the extent of the damage, repairs may take considerable time and require significant costs,” the publication quotes an anonymous NATO source.

In Russia, weekly production of gasoline and diesel fuel continues to decline due to Ukrainian drone attacks on oil refineries. According to Rosstat, gasoline production in Russia by the end of March decreased in annual terms by 14%, and diesel fuel by seven percent.

Due to the risk of a fuel shortage on the domestic market, Russia has sharply increased its purchases of gasoline from Belarus. If in February Russia imported 590 tons of Belarusian gasoline in February, then in March – already three thousand tons.

Bloomberg agency wrote that Russia plans to reduce exports of marine diesel fuel to a 5-month minimum.

In March, facilities such as the Rosneft Ryazan oil refinery and the Lukoil plant in Kstovo in the Nizhny Novgorod region were attacked. Both are among the top 10 largest oil refineries in Russia and supply Moscow with gasoline. Their primary oil refining units were damaged; It was not reported how long the repairs would take. The Slavyansky oil refinery in the Krasnodar region and the Syzran and Kuibyshev oil refineries in the Samara region were also attacked.

  • In total, since the beginning of the year, 15 oil refineries have been attacked in 10 regions of Russia. Their total refining capacity is 192 million tons of oil per year. Officially, Kyiv did not claim responsibility for the attacks on Russian oil plants.
  • Financial Times, citing three sources reportedthat Washington called on Kyiv to stop attacks on Russian energy infrastructure. The United States draws attention to the fact that attacks on these facilities could lead to an increase in world oil prices and provoke retaliatory measures from Moscow regarding energy infrastructure.
