Snubbed veteran answers SOS amid Broncos crisis
Brisbane will put veteran Corey Oates back on the wing to help solve an injury crisis in the squad.
The Broncos will be missing halfback Adam Reynolds, young gun winger Deine Mariner, backrower Brendan Piakura, and prop Payne Haas this week.
Oates trained on the right wing on Tuesday and appears certain to start on the field for the first time this year, replacing Mariner.
Superstar fullback Reece Walsh looks ready for an early return from a facial fracture against the Dolphins in Friday night’s Brisbane derby.
With Jock Madden training in Reynolds’ halfback position, it appears Tristan Sailor is once again the odd man out.
Sailor had filled Walsh’s No.1 boots with aplomb the past two weeks, but his best chance of playing this week looks to be off the bench.
Meanwhile at embattled South Sydney, young fullback Jye Gray will replace suspended Latrell Mitchell for this week’s crunch clash with Cronulla.
