The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has put journalist and writer Mikhail Zygar on the wanted list. Mediazona, in particular, wrote about this on Tuesday. The publication notes that it drew attention to the wanted card in the ministry’s database.

According to this information, Zygar is wanted under a criminal article. In connection with what a criminal case was opened against him is not specified.

In mid-March, the RIA Novosti agency, citing a source in law enforcement agencies, reported that the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against the former editor-in-chief of the Dozhd TV channel Zygar under an article on so-called fakes about the army.

The Shot telegram channel and the current editor-in-chief of Dozhd also wrote about the criminal case against Zygar. Tikhon Dzyadko. He claimed, without citing a source, that the case was initiated “as in most cases – for publication about the crimes of the Russian army in Bucha.” Zygar himself did not comment on the messages.

At the end of March, the Pskov City Court refused to consider the administrative protocol drawn up against Zygar about “discrediting” the army. What exactly was the reason for it is unknown, writes “Mediazone”.

  • Mikhail Zygar now lives abroad. He actively opposes the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and also participates in discussions about the possible future of Russia. In 2022, the Russian Ministry of Justice declared Zygar a “foreign agent.” The journalist tried to challenge this status, but the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow rejected the claim.
