Nick Chubb ‘agrees to rework $11.75million deal and take LESS money’… with Browns running back working to return from knee injury

Nick Chubb will be back in Cleveland next year – but with a lower salary than planned, after the running back reportedly agreed to rework his contract.

Chubb, 28, is widely considered one of the league’s best running backs, but is returning from a brutal ACL and MCL tear suffered in Week 2 of last season.

And according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Chubb has agreed to lower his base salary of $11.75million for next year – with the chance to earn it back from incentives.

Chubb has undergone two separate procedures to repair his ACL.

While the running back has stayed mostly healthy (aside from last year) in the NFL, he does have five previous seasons of heavy mileage on his body.

Chubb also suffered a gruesome knee injury in 2015, while playing for the University of Georgia in college.

Still, the Cleveland back has been tremendous in the pros when healthy, earning four Pro Bowl selections and topping 1,000 yards on four occasions as well.

Cleveland managed to withstand Chubb’s absence last season, going 11-6 and making the playoffs with Jerome Ford and Kareem Hunt leading the backfield.

Chubb has made over $34million in his NFL career.
