The Ministry of Labor is following up on the implementation of the Eid al-Fitr holiday decision for private sector workers

Hassan Shehata, Minister of Labor, today, Friday, directed the directors of labor directorates and their offices in the governorates to follow up on the implementation of the paid leave decision, given to workers in the private sector in companies and factories, on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, and to intensify follow-up and inspection campaigns in this regard.

 

 According to a press release, the Ministry of Labor had issued a circular to the labor directorates in the governorates, stipulating that  Eid al-Fitr vacation for private sector workers starts last Tuesday, 9  April 2024, until Sunday, April 14, 2024, this year, to be an official paid holiday for workers in the private sector, provided that Sunday is a holiday deducted from the worker’s annual leave balance… and this comes in light of Circular No. 9 of 2024 issued by the Ministry regarding grants to workers subject to the provisions of Law No. 12 of 2003, an official paid holiday on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, in implementation of the provisions of Article 52. From the Labor Law, workers in the private sector are entitled to leave with full pay for the working days of holidays and official occasions, which are determined by a decision from the Minister responsible for work.

 

The Ministry indicated that the decision comes In the context of ensuring the unification of official vacation dates for all employees in the various sectors of the state, whenever possible, in order to achieve the social and national purpose of official vacations on occasions and holidays.. The Prime Minister had issued  Resolution No. 1112  For the year 2024 regarding considering the same period as paid official leave for workers in ministries, government departments, public bodies, local administration units, public sector companies, and public business sector companies, on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.
