Iran has failed to land a coup. What happens next is in Netanyahu’s hands
Cairo: Hani Kamal El-Din
Now that Israel and Iran have directly attacked each other’s territory for the first time, the world is bracing for the possibility of war between the two heavily armed nation states.
If a full-scale war occurs, it would have profound consequences far beyond the Middle East and extend to the Indo-Pacific.
Until now, the Jewish State and the Islamic Republic, although sworn enemies, have carried out hostilities indirectly. They are separated by about 1,700 kilometers, separated by Jordan, Syria and Iraq.
But on April 1, a missile hit an Iranian consulate in Syria and killed a top Iranian general. Israel is the alleged aggressor but has not admitted it.
