The Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association organizes the first round of the Grand Slam tournament in Italy

The tournament witnessed a large turnout of European and international players to compete in this important round, as the number of participants reached more than a thousand male and female players from 60 countries, for the junior, professional and senior levels.

From the first day, the championship bouts witnessed a distinguished presence of a group of the world’s most prominent players from various clubs and academies to compete for the round’s prizes, which are of great importance as they award the winner of first place in each category 2,000 points in the annual classification approved within the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association.
Rodrigo Valerio, Director of Operations at the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association, said: Over the past 10 years, the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Championship has succeeded in presenting itself as the largest destination for Jiu-Jitsu players around the world, and the large turnout witnessed by each round of the tournament is strong evidence of its importance and great value for the elite. Regarding his participation in the championship competitions: Brazilian Thiago Barreto (black belt) from the UAE’s Commando Group Academy, who won the gold medal in the professional category under 69 kg, said: I look forward to achieving the largest amount of points in all rounds of the tournament, especially since it is an opportunity for us as players to compete and interact with the strongest names and stars. In the world of jiu-jitsu, he thanked the UAE and the tournament organizers for facilitating registration procedures and providing the best competitive environment in all tournaments.
For her part, Brazilian Ariane Olvera (brown/black belt) from Al Ain Club, who won gold in the women’s master’s category under 55 kg, said: We are happy to be in this distinguished tournament in Italy. I started preparing for it two weeks ago, and I am completely ready to achieve success in this event. The big international.
Among the black belt players who registered to participate in the tournament in the professional category, stand out are Yuri Hendricks, Leonardo Mario, and Jefferson from the Cicero Costa Academy, Lucas Protasio from the Checkmate Academy, and Anderson Ferreira from the Commando Group.

On the women’s level, Yara Nascimento from the Fratriz Academy, Julia Alves from the GF Team Academy, Ingrid Sosa from the Dream Art Academy and her colleague from the same academy, Ana Rodriguez, stand out.
