The number of immigrants to Italy has decreased by half since the beginning of the year… and a large influx from an Arab country
At least 16,090 migrants have arrived irregularly in Italy since the beginning of the year until April 15, a decrease of 51.97 percent compared to the 33,499 migrants arriving by sea on the Italian coast in the same period in 2023, the Italian news agency Nova reported.  ;
According to updated data from the Ministry of Interior, seen today by “Nova Agency”, the past thirty days have witnessed, thanks to recent periods of good weather, a significant increase in migration flows. Illegal migrants from Libya and Tunisia, where more than 9,539 migrants arrived on the Italian coast from March 15 to April 15, equivalent to 60 percent of the total number since the beginning of the year.
< p>The analysis of boat departure countries highlights that, in contrast to last year, the number of arrivals to Italy from Libya since the beginning of the year has generally been higher than arrivals from Tunisia.
< p>In the period between January 1 and March 15, 2023, 18,588 arrivals were recorded from the Tunisian route and 14,081 from the Libyan route, while “only” 7,254 migrants arrived this year. From Tunisia, a decrease of 60 percent, while 8,805 arrived from Libya, a decrease of 37.2 percent.
The situation has changed in the past four weeks, with The arrival of 5,587 irregular migrants from Tunisia, an increase of 337.52 percent in one month, compared to 3,945 irregular migrants from Libya, an increase of 81.17 percent in the period from March 15 to today.
