Kendall Jenner’s 818 Tequila team is accused of ruining a beloved AC/DC mural at a local bar in Indio while promoting the brand at Coachella

Kendall Jenner’s 818 Tequila team is being accused of causing damage to a beloved AC/DC mural at a local bar in Indio, California.

The model, 28, and her team have been promoting the alcohol brand during the first week of Coachella music festival.

They put up a large 818 decal-like sign at Club 5 Bar, where they had a pop-up event plugging the tequila line last week.

However, one of the owners, Randy Franco, now claims Jenner’s team ruined the AC/DC mural underneath the sign, leaving it scuffed and chipped, as per TMZ

Meanwhile sources close to Kendall told DailyMail.com that Randy and his mom, Carmen Franco, were aware that the mural may be damaged or even destroyed and signed a contract agreeing to that.

They also claim that Franco and his family were aware of the condition of the place following the event and did not raise any issues at the time.

Though the 818 decal looks like it was painted over the wall, it is actually a separate piece which was attached to it.

Randy put out a press release Monday accusing Kendall’s company of leaving their recently installed AC/DC mural scuffed and chipped, and not making any attempt to restore it.

He claimed that he and his partners gave 818 permission to use the wall and put up the 818 sign, but had asked them to use a protective layer underneath so as not to damage the mural underneath.

He alleges the team failed to do that, and instead stuck the sign to the mural with adhesive, causing cracks and chips from the paint upon removal.

It’s unclear what, if anything, Randy is planning to do about the situation, as he has only contacted the event coordinator to express his frustration about the mural so far.

Meanwhile according to an email viewed by TMZ, Randy’s mom, Carmen, did a walk-through of the premises, and even pointed out the mural, and said the condition was fine as Kendall’s team left.

Jenner — who recently promoted the brand while cooking pasta with her sister Kylie for Valentine’s Day — launched her tequila brand, 818, in February 2021.

On Friday evening the supermodel was spotted walking the grounds on the first day of the celebrity-packed weekend one of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.

She bundled up in a gray zip-up hoodie and brown leather jacket, opting for a low-key profile in a blue baseball cap and her hood pulled over her head.

She also sported a pair of black, straight-leg denim jeans and shiny, patent leather boots.

None of her famous family members appeared to have been in attendance with her on the first day of the festival.

This year, the 818 Tequila founder also brought along her liquor brand for an ‘outpost’ — which she shared snaps of on her Instagram Story — providing drinks and merchandise for partygoers.

The entrepreneur spoke about her brand during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar Australia and opened up about what drew her to the tequila business.

‘I grew up in California, and my family always had an interest in tequila. I was fascinated by the history of sipping tequila and the production that went into it,’ she said.

Jenner then stated that she set out to start a spirits brand that would appeal to younger audiences.

‘I wanted to create something that resonated differently, with a high level of quality that spoke to a new generation of tequila consumers,’ she said.

The model also expressed that she intended for 818 Tequila to set a new standard for female-owned liquor companies.

‘I felt that the market was historically male-dominated — if you look at labels and marketing campaigns from other brands in years past, there are a lot of similarities. I wanted to craft something that could appeal to everyone,’ she stated.
