Raiffeisenbank, which announced its withdrawal from the Russian Federation, increases its staff

Raiffeisenbank not only does not intend to leave Russia, as it announced a year ago, but also plans to develop business in the country, having posted almost 2.5 thousand advertisements for the search for employees for its Russian division since December 2023.

Of these, almost 1,500 advertisements relate directly to the search for sales managers and customer service specialists, reports Financial Times.

The publication contacted the head office of Raiffeisen Bank International for comment. They stated that, at the request of the head of the Austrian financial conglomerate Johann Strobl, an investigation had already been carried out. It showed that advertisements for employees were allegedly written taking into account the pre-war concept of the bank’s development, which was not changed by mistake. In fact, Raiffeisen Bank International continues to try to sell the Russian division, in which it is reducing the number of staff. Financial Times journalists claim that this is not true.

  • Last July, Reuters reported, citing its sources, that Raiffeisen Bank International was postponing its exit from the Russian market in the hope that Russia’s war with Ukraine would soon end, and that this decision was supported by the Austrian authorities, who do not want a complete severance of relations with Moscow.
  • According to the Financial Times, in the first year of a full-scale war, the Russian division of Raiffeisenbank received a record profit of 3.6 billion euros.
