The Chairman of the Medicines Authority participates in the launch of the Drug Regulatory Procedures Initiative in North Africa

Today, the Medicines Authority delegation, headed by Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawi, Chairman of the Authority, opened its participation in the preliminary meeting to launch the initiative to harmonize regulatory procedures for medicines in the North African region  NA-MRH, which will be held in the Republic of Tunisia from April 16-18, will witness the participation of heads of regulatory bodies in North African countries, as well as representatives of the African Union Commission, the African Union Development Agency (NEPAD), the World Health Organization, and representatives of initiatives. Corresponding organizational harmonization in the “East, West, Central and South” regions. The meeting is expected to discuss the objectives and achievements of the African Medicines Regulatory Procedures Harmonization Programme, AMRH, affiliated with the African Union Development Agency (NEPAD), and the challenges the program has faced since its launch in 2009, with a focus on reaching a state of compatibility. And technical harmonization between regulatory bodies in the field of medicine in the North African region.

 

In his speech, Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawi, Chairman of the Egyptian Medicines Authority, expressed the authority’s welcome and support for this initiative, stressing the importance Achieving unification and harmony in regulatory procedures, in addition to exchanging information and experiences, which contributes to building the capabilities of African regulatory entities and their integration. Which is reflected in the provision of safe, effective, high-quality medicine to citizens across the African continent.

 

This came within the framework of the Authority’s continuous endeavor to cooperate with all regional organizations in all fields related to medical preparations, And supporting regulatory systems on the African continent.
