In Ukraine, a Russian military man was sentenced to 12 years in prison

A court in the Kyiv region sentenced Russian contract soldier Radik Ghukasyan to 12 years in prison for the murder of a civilian in March 2022 during the occupation of the Kyiv region. About it reports press service of the SBU.

Ghukasyan was found guilty under articles of violation of the laws and customs of war and premeditated murder by prior conspiracy by a group of persons. The prosecutor demanded that the military man be sentenced to 15 years in prison. It is reported that in court Ghukasyan admitted guilt and expressed a desire to be exchanged for a Ukrainian prisoner of war.

Ghukasyan was a soldier of the 331st Parachute Regiment of the 98th Airborne Division of the Russian Armed Forces. According to investigators, in March 2022, on the road near the village of Zdvizhevka, Buchansky district, Kyiv region, he and his colleagues shot at a civilian car. It contained 32-year-old local resident Dmitry Bondarenko, who died from his injuries. The Russian military buried the body of the murdered man in the forest.

The investigation also charges Ghukasyan with looting. It is alleged that in March 2022, he and his colleagues allegedly robbed houses in the village of Yablunevka, Buchansky district. He transported the loot to Russia.

Ghukasyan was captured in August 2022 during the offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kherson region. It is reported that he himself confessed to the crimes and also named the names of his accomplices.
