‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ to Air Live From Chicago for DNC

Stephen Colbert is taking “The Late Show” on the road.

The late-night program will broadcast live from Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre during this year’s Democratic National Convention, also taking place in Chicago, from Aug. 19-22 on the CBS Television Network. “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” will also be available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.

Colbert announced the news on Wednesday night’s episode of “The Late Show.”

“I lived in Chicago for 11 years, and it holds a special place in my heart — and not because of all the Polish sausage lodged in my aorta,” Colbert said. “Chicago is where I cut my teeth performing at the Second City, and it’s also where this South Carolina boy got an education in winter. Did you know that tears can freeze?”

In a statement, Colbert said, “I am very excited to broadcast from the beautiful Auditorium. I started my career in Chicago, let’s see if I can end it there.”

During the Republican National Convention taking place in Milwaukee, Wis., “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” will air live July 15-18 from the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City. Guests for both weeks during the DNC and RNC will be announced at a later date.

“The Late Show” has broadcast live during the political conventions in previous election years, including in 2016 and 2020. The late-night talk show is a production of The Late Show, Inc. and CBS Studios and is executive produced by Colbert, Tom Purcell and Jon Stewart.
