"Duel" Six male and female players participate in the final qualifying stage for the Olympics "Paris 2024"

Dubai, April 18 / WAM / The UAE national fencing team will compete in the final leg of the Asian and Oceania qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games through the “Zone” Championship, which will be hosted by Fujairah during the 27th and 28th of April at the Zayed Sports Complex.
Ali Al Marzouqi, Executive Director of the Fencing Federation, said that the number of players participating in the tournament reached 150 male and female players, representing 20 countries from Asia and Oceania, who were unable to directly qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics according to the classification of the International Federation of Fencing.
He said: “The UAE national team is represented in this tournament by 6 male and female players with an average of one male and female in each of the three weapons. In the men’s team, they are Faris Al-Balushin in the fluoro, Abdullah Al-Hammadi, in the Ibih, and Khalifa Al-Abri, in the Saber, while she participates in the women’s team.” Noura Al-Buraiki, in the fluorescent weapon, Zainab Al-Hosani, in the Ibiyah weapon, and Mahra Abdullah, in the saber weapon.
He added: “This tournament, hosted by the UAE and being held in the Gulf region for the first time, represents the last opportunity to qualify for Paris 2024, where the first winner in each weapon qualifies directly to the Olympics, which embodies the strong and difficult level of competition expected.”
He pointed out that each team participates with players aspiring to qualify for the Olympics with a maximum of 6 male and female players in the three weapons, as more than one male and female player is not allowed in one weapon.
He stressed that the male and female UAE national team players are entering these qualifiers with the ambition of the challenge and not leaving any opportunity to gain experience and interaction with the different continental schools that are distinguished in the sport of fencing, adding that the federation’s strategy embodies the quest to develop the game and advance it, while holding on to the hope that any of our players will succeed in the sport.
