Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi inspects the affected residences and reviews the efforts of the work teams in the Al Suyouh suburb

Sharjah, April 20 (WAM) – His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, inspected, before Saturday afternoon, the homes affected by the weather condition that the country witnessed last Tuesday in the Al Suyuh suburb.

His Highness was briefed on the various methods that have been taken to withdraw and drain rainwater collected in the Al-Syouh suburb. His Highness watched the work of the mechanisms that dig temporary basins used to withdraw and store rainwater, which accommodate about 615 thousand gallons per basin.

His Highness toured the affected neighborhoods, looking at the homes around which water was accumulating, listening to the plans of the emergency and crisis teams regarding the process of withdrawing water and securing the area, and the most prominent solutions that were developed by the competent authorities to reduce the effects of the weather condition. His Highness learned about the mechanism that was applied to shelter the residents of the area from The 334 individuals affected by rainwater were provided with hotel rooms until the water collected around their homes was removed.

His Highness praised the role of the work teams that are doing their job intensively and diligently, appreciating the efforts of the volunteers he met, praising their quick response to help those in charge of the work and transporting those affected from their homes to the designated assembly areas in the region. His Highness also saw the security plan that was drawn up and the registration points distributed at the entrances to the Al-Syouh area. This is to preserve residents’ property and prevent entry of people who have no connection to the area.

Yesterday evening, Friday, His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi made an inspection visit to the city of Kalba and the areas affected by the heavy rains that the city witnessed during the depression several days ago, which is considered the second most rain-heavy area in the country.

His Highness followed the efforts made by various government agencies in the city of Kalba to return life to normal and open the main roads and residential neighborhoods in various parts of the city, especially those that witnessed large accumulations of rainwater and its entry into residential neighborhoods.

His Highness the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah appreciated the efforts of workers in local and federal authorities, volunteer teams, and community members who all joined together to quickly overcome this crisis, praising the people’s cooperation with the competent authorities and their support in working to quickly return to normal life.
