The Bahraini Minister of Finance calls for strengthening international cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals

MANAMA, April 20 / WAM / Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy of the Kingdom of Bahrain, called for strengthening joint international cooperation and developing solutions and strategic plans that support achieving economic growth and sustainable development goals in a way that contributes to achieving goodness and development for all countries.

The Bahraini News Agency (BNA) reported that this came during the statement delivered by the Minister of Finance and National Economy before the Development Committee at its 109th meeting on behalf of the countries of the Arab Group and the Maldives, which are represented by the Kingdom of Bahrain, within the framework of the Minister’s participation in the 2024 spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the Bank Group. The international conference was held in Washington, with the participation of ministers who are members of the committee and senior officials from international institutions and organizations to discuss economic issues of global concern.

In his speech, the Bahraini Minister noted the importance of optimal utilization of resources and working to enhance capabilities to efficiently overcome various challenges and turn them into promising opportunities.
He stressed the importance of continuing to work on developing programs and initiatives and allocating the necessary resources to support the public and private sectors, in addition to directing efforts to support various sectors in a way that contributes to enhancing economic growth.
Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy in the Kingdom of Bahrain, said that security is the basis of development and prosperity, and one of the main pillars for continuing to achieve the desired development achievements, pointing out that the lack of peace, security and stability that the world is going through, especially in the Gaza Strip, has cast a shadow on the economy. Regional and global, and created challenges for everyone.

He stressed the need for concerted international efforts to find diplomatic solutions to settle all regional disputes and conflicts, and to find a sustainable source of financing to support the economy and development in the Gaza Strip and alleviate the suffering of the civilian population, in addition to working together to achieve peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world.
