The Head of State discusses with the Secretary-General of the United Nations by telephone regional developments and efforts to contain escalation in the region
Abu Dhabi, April 20 / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and His Excellency António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, discussed today – during a phone call – various aspects of cooperation between the UAE and the United Nations, especially in the humanitarian fields and peace support. and development in the region and the world.
During the call, the two sides also discussed a number of regional and international issues of common concern, foremost of which are developments in the Middle East region and the need to work to contain tensions there, prevent their expansion, and prevent them from escalating, as this entails a serious threat to the security and stability of the region and international security and peace. They called for Restraint and giving priority to the voice of wisdom to spare the region from a dangerous stage of conflict that harms everyone and hinders cooperation and development efforts for the benefit of its peoples.
His Highness the President and His Excellency the Secretary-General of the United Nations reviewed the situation in the Gaza Strip and the importance of working to establish an immediate ceasefire in it to prevent further humanitarian tragedies among civilians, ensure the flow of adequate aid to its population without obstacles, and provide appropriate conditions for relevant international organizations to carry out their role.
