Aboul Gheit stresses the importance of spreading a culture of tolerance and acceptance of others

Cairo, April 22 / WAM / Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, stressed the importance of spreading a culture of tolerance, accepting others, and accepting different ideas and ways of life, calling on media and religious institutions to spread a culture of tolerance and reject hate speech.

This came in his speech during the opening of the Conference on Media Culture, Information Technology and Global Understanding, which was held today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States under the slogan “Peace for All” in the presence of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Mark, and Dr. Muhammad Al-Duwaini, Undersecretary of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, representing His Eminence the Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar.

The Secretary-General of the Arab League pointed out the importance of empowering youth and emerging Arab talents as the best investment in the nation’s future, stressing the importance of this conference, which deals with media and information culture as a basis for achieving world peace and promoting understanding and tolerance among peoples.

He praised the Spanish role in the success of this conference, and the Arab-Spanish relations that are rooted in history, explaining that the golden age of Arab civilization in Andalusia was an unparalleled model of tolerance and cultural coexistence.
