It will be hard for us, but without Armageddon

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, in an interview with the BBC Ukrainian Service, predicted a difficult situation for the country in mid-May – early June. At the same time, according to him, the circumstances will not lead to a disaster.

“We are facing a rather difficult situation in the near future, according to our assessment. But it is not catastrophic, this must also be understood. Armageddon will not happen, as many are now starting to say. But there will be problems from mid-May,” said the head of Ukrainian intelligence.

Budanov clarified that his forecast concerns Ukraine as a whole, and not just the situation at the front.

In publication BBC It is noted that Kirill Budanov is the most public head of military intelligence in the history of Ukraine. It is also said that he regularly gives interviews to journalists and appears at public events, expressing optimistic forecasts for Ukraine. The editors also recall his words that active hostilities will end by the end of 2022, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces will soon be in Crimea.

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate does not regret any of these forecasts, and the fact that they did not come true is explained by a change in circumstances: “These are real-time forecasts. If something happens a little differently, sorry, this makes its own adjustments,” Bi quotes Budanov -BC.

  • Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said in a recent interview with NBC that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have a chance to seize the initiative at the front if Kyiv receives the weapons systems it needs. The Ukrainian leader stated this after the US House of Representatives on April 20 approved an aid package to Ukraine in the amount of $60 billion 800 million.
