The Minister of Agriculture praises the successful experiences with "dispatch" In many projects

     The Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Mr. Al-Quseir, praised the constructive cooperation with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), pointing to the successful experiences in this regard through several projects being implemented on the ground.

This came during a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture. With the Country Director of the International Fund for Agricultural Development “IFAD” office In Cairo, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Qader, to discuss the immediate start of implementing the activities of the Sustainable Transformation of Agricultural Resilience in Upper Egypt (STAR) project with a funding amount of $64 million. 

 

And during the meeting Al-Quseir directed the need to provide all aspects of the technical support required for farmers and to fully coordinate with the funding agencies in the project’s work mechanisms, provided that the technical work plan for the project is completed, including the activities proposed to be implemented and the segments benefiting from the project within the targeted villages in the governorates of Minya, Assiut and Sohag, especially the villages of " “A Decent Life”, where the proposed plan is being formulated with the participation of the Agricultural Development Program and representatives of the banking sector, while overcoming all obstacles facing implementation.

For his part, Abdul Qader expressed his happiness in cooperating with the Ministry of Agriculture and his aspiration to launch the first phase of “STAR” project, in coordination between the Foreign Agricultural Relations, National Coordinator of the project, and the Executive Director of the project, noting that the joint projects between the Ministry and the Fund have witnessed successful experiences that can be emulated by many other countries. It is noteworthy that the “STAR” project It is affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation and funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development. It aims to improve the standard of living for small farmers, the poor, women most in need, and youth in the old lands in three governorates: Minya, Assiut, and Sohag. The volume of its funding reaches 64 million dollars, and 10 villages from each governorate were chosen to begin work there, after which it will be expanded to other villages.

The meeting was attended by Engineer Mustafa Al-Sayyad, Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Livestock, Fish and Poultry, and Dr. Alaa. Azouz, head of the agricultural extension sector, Dr. Saad Moussa, supervisor of foreign agricultural relations and Egyptian agricultural quarantine, Dr. Hani Darwish, executive director of the project, and some IFAD officials.
