Aboul Gheit discusses with the Bahraini Foreign Minister preparations for holding the next Arab summit in Manama

   Today, Tuesday, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, discussed with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, advanced preparations for holding the next Arab summit in Manama, scheduled for next May 16.

 

This came during Aboul Gheit’s meeting with the Bahraini Foreign Minister in the Qatari capital, Doha, on the sidelines of their participation in the third session of the Arab Economic and Cooperation Forum with the Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan, hosted by Qatar.

The official spokesman for the Secretary-General, Jamal Rushdi, said – in a statement – that the meeting mainly dealt with advanced preparations for Bahrain to host the Arab Summit on May 16th, as it discussed the latest developments in communication with Arab countries to coordinate positions and complete the preparation of the files that will be prepared. It was presented on the summit’s agenda. 

The meeting witnessed a discussion of the expected outcomes of the summit and ways to unify Arab positions regarding the crises that threaten the region, as well as any initiatives that could be put forward to enhance joint Arab action on priority issues.

 

 

In this regard, Aboul Gheit expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts led by Bahraini diplomacy, headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and under the directives of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Bahrain and its Crown Prince, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, so that the next summit will have a real impact on joint Arab action.
