Spanish newspaper: Atletico Madrid stadium stands partially closed due to… "Racist chants"

   The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo revealed today, Tuesday, that the Spanish League Competitions Committee announced the closure of some stands at Atletico Madrid’s “Wanda Metropolitano” stadium. Partially for two matches after racist chants launched by some fans towards Athletic Bilbao player Neco Williams last Saturday.

 

The decision came based on Article 69 regarding acts of violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance. The act was also considered a very serious event requiring the imposition of a fine of 20,000 euros in addition to the partial closure of the stadium stands.

The referee stopped the match due to racist chants against Williams before the end of the first half.

The target was targeted. Nico was subjected to racist chants while taking a corner kick in the first half, as well as when scoring Bilbao’s only goal. Nico appeared to respond to these insults by pointing out the color of his skin.
