Djokovic overhaul continues after latest shock split

Novak Djokovic has announced a split from long-time fitness coach Marco Panichi.

The 36-year-old had spent the last seven years working alongside Panichi, but will move in a new direction as he chases an edge to help him continue to rack up Grand Slam titles.

In a heartfelt tribute on social media, Djokovic thanked the trainer for their time spent together during his continued success.

“Grande Marco, what amazing years of collaboration we’ve had,” he said.

“We reached the summit, won titles, broken records. But most of all, I have enjoyed our most “ordinary” days of training in and out of the gym. Endless hours of “carciofini” and laughs that made me feel super motivated to prepare for success.

“Grazie Romanista (as Goran calls you) for all the energy, effort and time you invested in making me the best possible player and person I can be.

“Much love and I will see you soon in Roma.”

The news of his split from Panichi comes after Djokovic also parted ways with Goran Ivanisevic last month, prompting suggestions the Serbian star could go without a head coach moving into the latter stages of his career.
