Haier Egypt Director: Our first product under the slogan "Made in Egypt"

Ahmed El Gendy, director of Haier Egypt Industrial Complex, explained on the 10th of Ramadan: The opening of this giant edifice on the occasion of Labor Day is considered the birth of our first product under the slogan “Made in Egypt” from within this industrial edifice.

The opening of the Haier complex also comes – Eco-friendly Egypt coincides with Egypt’s Labor Day celebrations, giving a strong indication of the Egyptian worker’s ability to work hard and achieve if he is provided with the appropriate conditions and environment.

Ahmed El-Gendy, director of the Haier Egypt Industrial Complex on the 10th of Ramadan, said in statements to Rosalyoussef Portal that since the memorandum of understanding was signed under the auspices of the Egyptian government last August, I was honored to present the plan to establish the Haier-Egypt complex. In front of President Sisi in September 2022, we all took responsibility for implementing the project according to the timetable set for it within one year since laying the foundation stone in March 2023.

This success comes based on several basic factors:

Providing a conducive environment, wise policies, and decisions supporting investment adopted by the Egyptian state… thanks to the availability of advanced infrastructure and energy sources, providing a package of additional incentives and facilities, and unprecedented support from the General Authority for Investment, represented by activating the golden license system, which provides all building permits. Operation and management are combined in one license and approval, which honored Haier Egypt to be the first company to obtain the golden licence, which reflects the keenness of the Egyptian state, leadership and government, to support serious investment projects that aim to localize the local industry, transfer state-of-the-art technology, and increase the proportion of the local component to provide a high-quality product. Quality at a reasonable price worthy of being made in Egypt.

The soldier added that the policies pursued by the government in support of investment in Egypt to achieve the planned timetable for the project was an incentive for us to respond immediately to the government’s request to move forward with planning the establishment of a third phase for the production of high-capacity central air conditioning, to be the first factory of its kind in Egypt and the Middle East. At an investment cost 35 million dollars, and this type of investment requires exceptional support from the government to achieve the required timetable. Then the director of Haier Complex presented a quick overview of what has actually been achieved so far.

The first phase was completely completed on an area of 70 thousand square meters in less than a year, which produces home and central air conditioning products with low and medium capacities and clothes washing machines of both types, top and front loading, with a production capacity of one million units annually and with a local component percentage of 40% to 60%. It will reach 70% in the coming period, and the export share will reach 30%, providing more than 3,000 job opportunities.

Al-Jundi also confirmed: We also aim to double the volume of revenues during the current year to $120 million, reaching more than $500 million within 4 years.
