Ramin Djawadi to be Honored with BMI Icon Award at 40th BMI Awards

BMI is set to honor composer Ramin Djawadi with the Icon Award for his work across film, television and video games.

Djawadi, whose credits include “Westworld” and “Game of Thrones” will receive the honor at the 40th Annual BMI Film, TV and Visual Media Awards on June 5 in Beverly Hills.

This year’s event will hosted by BMI president and CEO Mike O’Neill and BMI vice president of creative, film, TV and visual media Tracy McKnight.

“We’re excited to honor Ramin Djawadi and celebrate his outstanding musical achievements,” McKnight said. “Ramin’s innovative compositions for films, TV shows, and video games have captivated audiences worldwide, exemplifying his remarkable range and talent. His compelling themes and scores will continue to leave a lasting impression on future generations, highlighting his status as a BMI Icon. We’re also looking forward to honoring all our distinguished composers and spotlighting excellence across music in film, TV and visual media.”

The Emmy winning composer’s credits also includes “Prison Break” and “Person of Interest.” Most recently, Djawadi collaborated with Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy on Amazon Prime’s “Fallout” and teamed up with David Benioff and D.B. Weiss on the Netflix series “3 Body Problem.”

Throughout his 25 years in the industry, Djawadi has won 15 BMI awards for his film and television scores. In receiving the BMI Icon award, Djwadi joins a prestigious list of past recipients which includes Terence Blanchard, Mychael Danna, Alexandre Desplat, Harry Gregson-Williams, James Newton Howard, Christopher Lennertz, Thomas Newman, Rachel Portman, Mike Post, Alan Silvestri, Brian Tyler and John Williams.
