12 people were killed in northern Haiti due to heavy rains

Port-Aprince, May 4, WAM: At least 12 people were killed as a result of soil erosion due to heavy rains that fell on northern Haiti and continued for several days.

Local media quoted the authorities in Haiti as saying that eleven people among the victims were killed in Laborie, the southern suburb of Cap Haitien, after a house collapsed due to the heavy rains that fell on the city for several days, explaining that the collapsed building in turn led to the collapse of two other houses, while one person died as a result. Another landslide in a nearby area.

She pointed out that rescue teams and firefighters, as well as local volunteers, are currently working to remove the rubble in search of victims.
