DIRECT. Giro 2024: a route already promised to the favorites? Follow the first stage of the Tour of Italy
Will Tadej Pogacar win from day one? The big favorite for the Tour of Italy 2024, recent winner of Liège-Bastogne-Liège, has all the qualities to shine on the route of the first stage, Saturday May 4 between Veneria Reale and Turin (140 km). After the climbs of Superga (8 km at 4.3%) and Colle Maddalena (7.1 km at 6.6%), the Bivio di San Vito (1.4 km at 10%), located less than three kilometers from the finish line, should decide the first pink leader’s jersey.
Some of the best punchers in the peloton are there to compete with the Slovenian. The Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe, who is discovering the roads of the Giro, undoubtedly aims to win there from his first day. Romain Bardet also wants to complete his record, having already won on the other two Grand Tours.
