Tunisian Foreign Ministry: The need to strengthen efforts to end the genocide in Gaza and lift the siege

Mounir Benjiba, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad, stressed the need to strengthen efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and end the genocide to which the Palestinian people are subjected, facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid and lift the unjust siege on the Palestinian people.

 

The Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated – in a statement today, “Saturday”, that this came during Benjiba’s presidency of the Tunisian delegation participating in the 21st session of the meeting of foreign ministers of the northern European countries – Africa, which was held on May 2 and 3 in the Danish capital, Copenhagen. Under the title “The Multilateral System and the Growth of Trade and Investments.”

 

The Secretary of State stressed – during the meeting – the urgent need to accelerate the reform of the international governance system in a way that responds to the changes the world is witnessing and achieves The effectiveness required to establish peace, stability and security and to build a multilateral system that contributes to achieving justice and development in all regions, especially in the African continent.

 

He called on the participating countries to strengthen their efforts to combat illicit flows. For funds and to help countries recover their looted funds abroad, and to reduce the debts of developing countries, especially by converting these debts into investments that benefit their people, calling for a re-evaluation of the role of rating agencies so that they do not constitute an obstacle in the future to developing countries’ access to international financing. 

 

It is noteworthy that the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad, Mounir Benjiba, held several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of his participation in the meeting of foreign ministers of the northern European countries – Africa, with a number of ministers and officials from Libya, Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iceland and Norway, discussed ways to enhance cooperation and partnership to serve the common interest.
