An Arab meeting to draft a pilot law to protect displaced people in Arab countries

Today, Wednesday, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League, the work of the second meeting of the joint committee of experts and representatives of the ministries of justice and interior and concerned authorities in the Arab countries began, headed by Iraq, to ​​study the draft Arab advisory law to protect internally displaced persons in the Arab countries.

 

Director of the Legal Affairs Department at the League of Arab States, Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Maha Bakhit, said in her speech that the meeting was devoted over two days to studying the remaining articles of the draft law in light of the comments received from Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon. With the aim of reaching a final draft of the draft guiding law and submitting it to the Councils of Arab Ministers of Justice and Interior to consider its approval.

 

She added that several previous meetings were held at the request of Iraq to prepare a draft Arab agreement to protect Internally displaced persons in Arab countries, but the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice, at the request of the Arab countries, decided to form this committee to draft a draft indicative law to protect internally displaced persons in Arab countries instead of the draft convention.
