Four people were arrested in India for recruiting mercenaries into the Russian army

Four people were arrested in India for recruiting mercenaries into the Russian army. About it stated Indian Central Bureau of Investigation.

As the report says, one of the arrested lived in Russia, was a translator and was one of the key figures in the network for recruiting mercenaries. The second arrested person, while in Dubai, helped future mercenaries obtain visas and book air tickets. Two more lived in India and were directly involved in recruitment, including disseminating messages on the Internet and social networks about high-paying jobs in Russia.

In early March, Indian authorities reported that a “large human trafficking network” had been uncovered in the country, whose participants lured young people to Russia with promises of work, but subsequently forced them to sign contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense and sent them to war in Ukraine. Approximately 35 people were sent to Russia under this scheme. Earlier, Indian authorities reported that they were trying to bring home about 20 fellow citizens who ended up in the Russian army. The report by the Central Bureau of Investigation said that the Indian citizens had no intention of participating in the fighting, but as a result of deception they were sent to the front, where their lives were in great danger. Some were injured. No deaths were reported.

By message Reuters, Indian sources previously cited a figure of approximately 100 Indian citizens who signed contracts with the Russian military department.

Earlier it was reported that several Nepalese citizens were recruited into the Russian army and died in the war. In early January, Nepalese authorities suspended issuing work permits to citizens in Russia and Ukraine. Kathmandu demanded that Moscow stop recruiting Nepalese and return those already recruited home.
