Fujairah International Airport is attracting new airlines this year

Dubai, May 8 / WAM / Ibrahim Al Jallaf, Deputy Director General of Fujairah International Airport, stressed the importance of the airport’s participation with the Fujairah Tourism Department, in the Arabian Travel Market 2024 exhibition, as it is an opportunity to exchange experiences with international airline companies and learn about what is new in the world of travel. And tourism.

He said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that there are new expansions in the operations of the airport, which currently receives flights from Al Salam Omani Airlines, which operates flights to Muscat and Salalah, including the signing of an agreement with EgyptAir to operate two flights a week on Thursdays and Sundays to Fujairah Airport. Starting next July 11, while future plans include increasing transit flights to some European destinations.

Al-Jallaf stressed the efficiency of the airport’s infrastructure and its ability to receive passengers and accommodate air cargo operations, pointing out that work is currently underway to add new buildings to the cargo section, as well as the completion of the second runway, which operates 24 hours a day.

He stated that Fujairah Airport, which is considered the only airport on the eastern coast of the country, is a safe haven for national and foreign carriers in cases of foggy weather. He said that the new expansions and improvements in infrastructure aim to raise the efficiency of the airport and improve its services to meet the increasing demand, especially as it receives an increasing flow of transit flights. In addition to the expected new agreements to open new lines with several countries, including India and Pakistan, which increases its strategic importance as a major connecting point in the region.

For his part, Mark Govindar, Director of Business Development at Fujairah International Airport, said that negotiations are underway with a number of Asian companies to operate flights between Fujairah and a number of countries, including three Indian airlines that will operate flights between Delhi, Kerala, and Mumbai, and between Fujairah. We are also looking into operating flights from Pakistan, The Philippines and Thailand.

Mark explained that Fujairah Airport aims to triple the number of passengers by the end of this year, in cooperation with the Tourism Authority and by developing special packages and prices to attract tourists from various countries of the world.

He pointed to the great facilities for tourists arriving through Fujairah Airport, which includes smart gates, free parking, a duty-free market, restaurants and cafes serving travelers, in addition to the speed of completing travel transactions that take place within a few minutes.
