Dubai, 8 May / WAM / The Game Expo Summit, the leading international gaming event in Dubai supported by the leading gaming conference, Pocket Gamer Connects, welcomed more than 1,500 gaming and digital sports industry experts to explore ways of cooperation with the aim of enhancing the growth of… This sector is located throughout the region.
The summit was held for two days as part of the Dubai Games and Digital Sports Festival 2024, which was organized by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Corporation from April 19 to May 5.
In its second session, the summit highlighted the latest trends, innovative technologies, and thriving opportunities in the ever-evolving global gaming field.
The summit brought together more than 90 speakers from gaming industry experts, government agencies, and leading global gaming brands, to exchange ideas through more than 70 dialogue tracks and sessions, confirming its position as a leading platform for the gaming industry in the region and a knowledge exchange forum between companies.
The list of speakers included Her Excellency Aisha Abdullah Miran, Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, Hadi Badri, Executive Director of the Dubai Economic Development Corporation, Dr. Marwan Al Zarouni, Strategic Advisor at the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai, Abdullah Al Qoud, Director at the Dubai Chamber for the Digital Economy, and others.
The summit discussions touched on growth opportunities in a competitive market, how to benefit from modern technologies such as artificial intelligence and the third generation of the Internet, the latest trends and technologies in monetization skills, and the latest information about the growth of the gaming market in the Middle East region and the expected opportunities therein.
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy in the UAE, also organized a unique workshop that addressed commercial and legal issues related to intellectual property and video games.
His Excellency Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Muaini, Assistant Undersecretary for the Intellectual Property Sector – Ministry of Economy, said: “The gaming sector is an important part of the growth of our economy, by merging technology with art, and we aim to transform the United Arab Emirates into a global center for creativity and talented individuals.”
Hadi Badri, Executive Director of the Dubai Economic Development Corporation, said: “Dubai has gained increasing fame as a leading destination for digital games and sports, and has also become a preferred choice for emerging companies, as well as multinational companies, due to the capabilities it provides that allow them opportunities for growth and success.”
He added, “The emirate is keen to create the appropriate business environment to enhance innovation, creativity and technological development by investing in advanced infrastructure.”
