Launching of the National Competition for Young Innovators in Science and Technology
The activities of the National Competition for Young Innovators were launched today, Wednesday, in implementation of the cooperation protocol signed between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, represented by the Fund for the Care of Innovators and Geniuses, and the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, with the aim of discovering and qualifying innovative and brilliant students in the fields of science and technology in the pre-school stage. University.
Diaa Khalil, Executive Director of the Innovators and Geniuses Fund, stressed the importance of the national competition for young innovators in discovering and developing the talents of innovative students in the fields of science and technology, noting that the competition is held within the “Innovation Club” program. At the level of 27 educational directorates throughout the Republic.
He added that the competition includes all students in public, private and international schools, STEM schools, Nile schools, and their educational departments. He explained that this competition aims to provide a suitable environment for young people and innovative students to present their ideas and projects, and to support future pioneers in Egypt in implementation of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research, which is in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
He added that the competition also aims to discover creative talents. among students from various educational levels, developing innovative thinking and entrepreneurship skills among young people, and enabling them to transform their innovative ideas into realistic, applicable projects through an elite group of specialized experts, embracing and supporting teams that include innovative students, and selecting the most distinguished students through a final competition held at the conclusion of the program. And honoring the best innovators.
He pointed out that applications for the competition are open until next June 6, and that the conditions that must be met to join include that all team members must be Egyptian students and that the students must be officially enrolled in one of the Egyptian schools in the middle or secondary stage. "Except for the final year of secondary school", and that the team consists of 2 to 4 students, in addition to the approval of the school administration for the students to participate in the competition.
The competition is held in five main areas, the first of which is energy, and includes "Energy Physical, chemical energy”, Second: Environment, which includes “Environmental Engineering, Environment and Earth Sciences”, Third: Robots and smart machines, Fourth: Software systems, which includes “Software Engineering Embedded Systems”, Fifth: Artificial Intelligence, and each team will receive a qualification. For the guidance and guidance stage of the competition, financial support worth 10 thousand pounds is provided. This support aims to help the teams finance their projects and develop their creative ideas.
The projects will also be evaluated in the final stage of the competition based on a set of criteria, including: "The suitability of the title of the innovation and its connection to the idea, the clarity of the basic problem that the innovation addresses, the creativity and excellence in presenting the idea and its potential for development, the clarity of the steps for implementing the innovation idea, the quality of the proposed idea, the distinction of the innovation from currently existing innovations, identifying the difficulties during the period of implementation of the innovation, and the clarity of the applicability of the innovation. Innovation on the ground, the suitability of the proposed solutions to solve those difficulties, the clarity of the images or drawings contained in the innovation and the clarity of their description, the clarity of the party benefiting from the innovation, the clarity of the initial model of the innovation, and displaying the competitions in which the team participated in inventing it previously, whether internationally or locally, and displaying The positions obtained by the team during its participation in international or local competitions, and the clarity of the sustainability plan for the project idea.
The value of the competition prizes reaches 500 thousand pounds, and is distributed according to the first place 50 thousand pounds, the second place 30 thousand pounds, and the first place The third is 20 thousand pounds, and these prizes are awarded at the level of each of the five competition areas.
