The Presidents of America and Romania stress the importance of their bilateral cooperation in the field of energy security
US President Joe Biden and his Romanian counterpart Klaus Iohannis stressed the importance of their bilateral cooperation in the field of energy security, as it is one of the many areas of their growing economic and trade relationship.
The White House stated – in A statement published today, Wednesday – that these confirmations came during Biden’s reception of his counterpart Iohannis at the White House to celebrate Romania’s twentieth anniversary as a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Biden thanked Romania. For its gracious hosting of American soldiers and for its commitment to security on NATO’s eastern front, including the Black Sea region.
The US President praised Romania’s defense investments, which have consistently exceeded NATO pledges. By spending at least 2% of its gross domestic product on defense.
The two presidents reaffirmed their steadfast support for Ukraine as it defends itself against Russian military intervention. Biden expressed his appreciation for Romania’s support for Ukrainian refugees and efforts to transport Ukrainian grain to the market.
