The UAE and Jordan sign a memorandum of understanding to enhance recognition of maritime certificates for seafarers

ABU DHABI, 8 April / WAM / The Ministry of Energy Infrastructure and the Ministry of Transport of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan signed a memorandum of understanding on enhancing joint cooperation and mutual recognition of maritime certificates for navigators in the two countries, in addition to building capabilities and exchanging knowledge and information in the maritime field.

The memorandum of understanding, which was signed by His Excellency Engineer Hessa Al Malik, Advisor to the Minister for Maritime Transport Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, on the UAE side, and His Excellency Engineer Omar Al-Dabbas, Director General of the Jordan Maritime Authority on the Jordanian side, via video communication technology, comes within the framework of keenness to The two parties will discuss more opportunities in fields related to the maritime industry, and achieve various common goals of promoting maritime education and training, supporting existing cooperation between them, and benefiting from human resources to achieve the greatest extent of economic, social and cultural development and regional integration between them.

Her Excellency Engineer Hessa Al Malek stressed the importance of the memorandum in developing scientific and technological knowledge in the maritime field, and supporting common interests through the exchange of relevant technologies, experience, information and human resources, pointing to the depth of the established fraternal and strategic relations that bring together the United Arab Emirates and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the necessity of investing in them for more. Of achievements in various fields, especially the maritime industry, which represents a fundamental pillar of national economies.

Her Excellency said: “We continue our efforts to strengthen partnerships with various relevant authorities and in various countries of the world, out of belief in the importance of this approach in achieving our various goals of developing the sector, which contributes to supporting the country’s journey in achieving sustainable economic development and its global leadership to reach Achieving the goals of the UAE Centenary 2071.

Al Malek expressed her happiness with the cooperation with the Ministry of Transport in Jordan, which aims to open new horizons in fruitful relations and explore opportunities that achieve more positive results for the two brotherly countries, stressing that the maritime transport sector is in great need of exchanging experiences, knowledge and constructive cooperation in order to employ technology and techniques. Modern means to advance it to advanced levels that meet the aspirations of the wise leadership, and keep pace with the future trends of this vital sector, which is a major tributary to sustainable development.

For his part, His Excellency Engineer Omar Al-Dabbas stressed the depth of the bilateral relations between the UAE and Jordan, which enjoy the care and attention of the wise leaderships of the two brotherly countries, and the keenness to continuously strengthen them in the field of the maritime industry, pointing to the high level of coordination and great harmony between the two sides in the field of the maritime industry.

The memorandum of understanding comes within the framework of the desire of the two brotherly countries to take the necessary steps to implement the International Convention on Levels of Training, Certification, and Shift Work for Workers at Sea of ​​1978 and its amendments, and to ensure the competence of officers and sailors working on board ships belonging to both sides and their eligibility to carry out their duties, and to achieve optimal standards for maritime safety, property protection, and preservation. On the marine environment, taking into account the application of Regulation “1/10” of the Convention.
