Local development and social solidarity discuss local economic development in the governorates

Major General Hisham Amna, Minister of Local Development, received Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, in the presence of the leaders of the two ministries, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Local Development in the New Administrative Capital.

 

 He praised Major General Hisham Amna, with the efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Social Solidarity under the supervision of Mrs. Nevin Al-Qabbaj and the role it plays on the governorates’ land and the cooperation between the two ministries in many sectors and fields to achieve the directives of Mr. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the assignments of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and in particular the presidential initiative " A decent life And the national project for the development of the Egyptian family and the economic empowerment of families and vulnerable groups in various cities, as well as the support and marketing of handmade and heritage products at the local level. The Ministry is committed to preserving traditional and handicrafts and some small industries in Egyptian villages and reviving some economic blocs, especially in the governorates of Upper Egypt, Qena, Sohag, Assiut and Minya, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership and the Prime Minister’s assignments, indicating that the Ministry’s efforts have contributed to providing new job opportunities in those industries and blocs in addition to Providing the opportunity for producers and manufacturers to participate in internal and external exhibitions and increasing sales rates for workers in those crafts and industries, which contributes to providing job opportunities for women and youth. 

 

For her part, the Minister of Social Solidarity appreciated Cooperation efforts with the Ministry of Local Development in many areas include licensing institutions and nurseries, service projects for people with disabilities, economic empowerment, and traditional and handicrafts, stressing that Social Solidarity is the executive arm of the governors in providing social and economic services to citizens, communicating with them and addressing their complaints as quickly as possible.

 

The Minister of Social Solidarity expressed her appreciation for the study prepared by the Ministry of Local Development for the executive plan to localize the silk industry in Egypt, declaring the readiness of the Ministry of Social Solidarity to participate in implementing this plan with the Ministry of Local Development. Local Development, stressing that the Ministry is implementing the « Damaged in silk» With the aim of promoting the carpet industry, including all its components, more than 500 looms were distributed, in addition to studying the sector and working to promote and market carpets, in addition to the role played by the Rural and Environmental Industries Support and Rural Revitalization Fund in strengthening local industries and rural and environmental industries, including developing Marketing policies for environmental products by developing marketing policies for products and providing technical training for individuals and institutions working in the development of rural, environmental and household industries.

 

Al-Qabbaj stated that the Ministry is working on the directives of the political leadership in rapid coordination. And effective in the “Industrial Egypt” initiative, cooperation will also take place with the Ministry of Local Development and governors in localizing the silk industry in Egypt.

 

The meeting witnessed a discussion of areas of cooperation between the two ministries in supporting empowerment. Economic blocs for the most needy groups, youth and women in the governorates, expanding the application of the economic blocs methodology applied by the local development program in Upper Egypt, expanding the inventory carried out by the Ministry of Local Development, and selecting a number of economic blocs to begin bilateral cooperation between the two ministries, including the localization of the silk industry in Egypt, in light of The directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the government regarding the localization of the silk industry in Egypt and the launch of the silk industry localization initiative, in implementation of the assignments of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, to the Ministry of Local Development to work on developing a plan to produce 100 tons of silk annually, which will contribute to providing the needs of this industry. In cooperation with the ministries and concerned authorities, and developing a plan with a specific cost and time dates in this regard in preparation for presenting it to the Prime Minister in a way that contributes to increasing exports and achieving self-sufficiency in this silk localization industry, and providing more job opportunities, especially for youth and women.

 

During the meeting, some proposals prepared by the Ministry of Local Development were reviewed for the localization and production of silk in Upper Egypt, and the proposed development methods for planting mulberry trees and raising silkworms in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and the concerned authorities in this industry, including It guarantees the success of the state’s efforts in this file. 

 

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to continue coordination and cooperation between the two ministries to develop a complete vision regarding joint cooperation mechanisms in the local economic development file. And supporting economic blocs, including the silk industry in the governorates.
