Jurgen Klopp reveals his summer plans ahead of final Liverpool game – as the iconic Reds boss says he ‘can’t wait’ to live a normal life

Jurgen Klopp has revealed what he plans to do over the summer after leaving Liverpool.

The German has enjoyed nine glittering years in charge at Anfield, winning eight trophies and providing several memories for supporters, but he is set to depart after today’s final game of the Premier League season against Wolves.

Klopp is sure to receive a significant and emotional send-off, with the 56-year-old having firmly etched himself into Liverpool’s pantheon of iconic managers.

Having started his managerial career career with Mainz, Klopp coached the German side for seven years, before leading Borussia Dortmund for a further seven. He left Dortmund at the end of the 2014-15 season, and took over at Liverpool in October 2015, meaning that over the past 23 years he has only had a few months out of work.

And, speaking ahead of his final game in charge of the Reds, Klopp outlined his plans for the coming months now he’s set to finally have some time away from the game.

‘Holiday,’ he told Liverpool’s official website. ‘(The) Champions League final with Dortmund, I got invited, so we will watch that.

‘It’s not that I tried a lot (previously to go on holiday), so I didn’t have time. I had time but a summer holiday for me at least at the end of the season was like falling on the first available sunbed and having a phone here and talking to agents, sporting directors, stuff like that.

‘Having no training sessions, yes, but the rest was pretty much still going on. So that means I didn’t see one per cent of the world for nothing.

‘Now we will do nothing, we will watch the Euros here and there, (I’m) really looking forward to that and then a holiday doing nothing and then the plan is start to travel and we will see how that goes.’

Klopp is set to spend more time with his wife Ulla, with the couple reported to be splitting their commitments between their villa in Mallorca and back home in Germany.

And the 56-year-old went on to explain how he’s just looking forward to living life normally again and fulfilling his family roles.

‘One hundred per cent (I’m looking forward to being a husband, a father and a grandfather),’ he added

‘I can’t wait to be that. It’s all good. How I said, I can’t wait for life, for the life after the career and now let’s see what that means to me.

‘People ask me, “What are you (going to do?)”. I just don’t know. I never had it, so let’s give it a try and then I tell you.’
