'He hasn't yet learnt': Mundine's plea to Latrell

Former rugby league and boxing champion Anthony Mundine has slammed the Magic Round crowd at Suncorp Stadium for constantly booing star Souths fullback Latrell Mitchell.

And he called for life bans for spectators who racially abuse the brilliant star.

The Magic Round incidents follows similar scenes at Allianz Stadium earlier this month when the polarising star was roundly jeered by large sections of the crowd throughout the game against the Roosters.

Then, less than two weeks ago, there were allegations Latrell and teammate Cody Walker were racially abused by spectators during South Sydney’s loss to the Dragons.

“I was the biggest villain in sport when in reality I was one of the best role models the game had,” Mundine told Wide World of Sports.

“I didn’t drink, didn’t smoke had no scandals and was a very high achiever, yet they still booed me.

“It just confirmed to me the ugly face of racism that’s entrenched in Australian society.

“I learned to take the boos like a badge of honour and it provided added motivation for me to be the best player in the game. Latrell should do the same.
