33 people died as a result of floods in Afghanistan

Kabul, April 15 / WAM / At least 33 people were killed as a result of heavy rains and floods that hit several areas in Afghanistan.

Jinan Saiq, spokesman for the Natural Disaster Management in Afghanistan, said that according to preliminary information, the floods since last Friday have caused huge human and financial losses, with 33 people killed and 27 others injured.
He explained that the rains caused the complete or partial destruction of about 600 homes and washed away 580 kilometers of roads, noting that nearly 800 hectares of agricultural land were flooded with water and 200 heads of livestock died.

About 20 of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces are witnessing high levels of rainfall, including the capital, Kabul.
