Met Gala staffer goes viral for ‘iconic’ last-minute memo to Sydney Sweeney: ‘Give that guy a raise!’

A Met Gala staffer has won a legion of fans for his last-minute memo to Sydney Sweeney as she stepped out for the high-profile fashion event in New York City.
The Euphoria actress, 27, donned a custom black sequined Miu Miu gown for the occasion, which featured a small train and short sleeves with fringe detailing, along with a cutout at her chest that was fastened by a golden flower.
She styled her hair in a chic slick-back bun and two twisted curls framing her face, opting for a sultry smoky eye makeup look – with the look reportedly paying tribute to Hollywood icon Kim Novak.
But before showcasing her ensemble to the mob of fans gathered outside The Carlyle Hotel, Sydney was offered a quick piece of light-hearted advice.
In a video shared on X, formerly Twitter, one staffer waiting behind-the-scenes took to opportunity to call out: ‘Don’t forget to serve face when you walk in.’
This caused the Anyone But You star to turn her head in the direction of the voice in apparent acknowledgment – but she kept her stoic composure and continued walking.
And viewers quickly flocked to the comments of the video, obsessing over the staffer’s suggestion.
One urged: ‘Promote him to chief of staff expeditiously.’

‘And she delivered,’ someone else shared, before one person added: ‘He is all of us.’
Others branded it as ‘iconic’ and added that they were now ‘obsessed’ with the mystery man.
Despite the straightforward advice and months to plan for the event, many fashion lovers thought Sydney’s look was ‘boring’ and ‘not on theme.’
This year’s Met Gala theme was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style – based on Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity – and the dress code was Tailored for You.
It was intended to pay homage to Black dandyism, a style with European roots that started post-Emancipation and came out in full force during the Harlem Renaissance.
Sydney is set to portray Novak in the upcoming film Scandalous, directed by none other than Met Gala co-chair Colman Domingo.
On X, one user described Sweeney’s look as ‘flat and boring,’ adding: ‘Nothing of Dandyism about it.’

A fifth person jokingly wrote: ‘I know she thought the theme was wearing the color black lol.’
Another person echoed: ‘She stopped reading after black.’
