Joe Biden’s health scare after ‘small nodule’ found on his prostate during medical exam

Former President Joe Biden, 82, has a ‘small nodule’ on his prostate that needs ‘further evaluation’, according to multiple reports.

It was found during ‘a routine physical exam,’ a spokesperson for Biden told ABC News.

Biden left office as the oldest serving president in U.S. history – and it’s common for those of the his advanced age to experience prostate issues.

A nodule is a firm lump or swelling that can develop throughout the body. While they can be benign and harmless, some can be associated with bigger health concerns like infections or cancer.

Questions over the former president’s age, health and fitness for such an important office ultimately led him to ditch his reelection campaign and let then-Vice President Kamala Harris, 60, take over.

In February 2023, Biden had a cancerous lesion removed from his chest and before entering office had several non-melanoma skin cancer spots removed with Mohs surgery.

A small nodule was found on the prostate of former President Joe Biden, 82, during a ‘routine exam’

‘As expected, the biopsy confirmed that the small lesion was basal cell carcinoma,’ White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor said at the time. ‘All cancerous tissue was successfully removed.’

‘No further treatment is required.’

‘Basal cell carcinoma lesions do not tend to ‘spread’ or metastasize, as some more serious skin cancers such as melanoma or squamous cell carcinoma are known to do,’ the doctor explained. ‘They do, however, have the potential to increase in size, resulting in a more significant issue as well as increased challenges for surgical removal.’

While still president in February 2024, Biden’s doctor declared him ‘fit to serve’ following a routine physical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

But a forthcoming book details how Biden’s deterioration towards the end of his single term was so severe that some aides started to weight whether he needed to use a wheelchair.

The book Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again’ is coming out on May 20.

CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson say that advisers were privately discussing in 2023 and 2024 the possibility that Biden might need to use a wheelchair if he won reelection.

Internet critics and even some medical professionals weighed-in on Biden’s gait towards the end of his presidency, mentioning his shuffle and his inclination to stumble and even fall completely to the ground.

During a commencement address at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado on June 1, 2023, Biden tripped and fell down while on stage. A few members of his Secret Service detail rushed to help him back to his feet.

The conversations about wheelchair use reflect Biden’s extreme health decline and spine issues, and the extent to which his White House team was willing to go to conceal it during a tough reelection.

Reports of the prostate nodule come after the former president and former first lady Jill Biden appeared for a joint interview on ABC’s The View daytime program.

Biden’s media reemergence after ending his single term has Democrats split, with many thinking it’s bad for the party as they try to move on from his single term and his eleventh-hour decision to end his 2024 bid.

Some think Biden dropped out of the race too late and didn’t give other members of the party – including his VP – a fighting chance to win against Donald Trump.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) said on Sunday said the Democratic Party would have been ‘better served’ by holding a primary election in 2024, rather than defaulting to the incumbent.
