Did The Handmaid’s Tale Play Reputation (Taylor’s Version)?

Clutch your fucking friendship bracelets, ‘cos it appears that a track from Taylor Swift‘s Reputation (Taylor’s Version) featured on the latest episode of The Handmaid’s Tale. LET’S GOOOO!

This article contains minor The Handmaid’s Tale season six spoilers. You’ve been warned.

ICYMI, The Handmaid’s Tale is on its final season and alongside its big finish, it’s been clocked that Miss Tay Tay’s long-awaited, highly-anticipated Reputation (Taylor’s Version) album might’ve been teased in its ninth episode.

To set the scene, the alleged Taylor’s Version of “Look What You Made Me Do” was played at the very start of episode nine, where the handmaids are in the middle of an uprising against the Commanders.

You can peep the scene (and the glorious re-record) below:

Did The Handmaid’s Tale really use Taylor’s Version of “Look What You Made Me Do”?

While Taylor’s camp hasn’t flat-out said it was her version of the iconic era-launching track, Handmaid’s Tale star and executive producer Elisabeth Moss said she’d been fanging to use the singer’s song in the beloved series.

“I’ve been wanting to use a Taylor song for many years on the show and we finally found the perfect spot for a track from her, and I’m so glad we waited because there could not be a more perfect song for a more perfect moment,” Moss told Billboard.

“Taylor has been such an inspiration to me personally. As a Swiftie myself, and I think I can speak for [co-star] Yvonne [Strahovski] and our entire cast as well, who are all Swifties, it’s such an honour to be able to use her music in the final episodes of our show.”

“I said to my editor, Wendy [Hallam Martin], ‘I really want to find a place for a Taylor track in the last 2 episodes of the show’ and we wanted to find a music queue for the opening of nine, and all the credit goes to Wendy for picking this track for this moment!”

PEDESTRIAN.TV has reached out to Taylor Swift’s camp for a confirmation from the pop diva.

When is Reputation (Taylor’s Version) coming out?

At the time of writing, there hasn’t been any confirmation of Reputation (Taylor’s Version). However, late last year, the 1989 singer sparked rumours of a revamped album after a 2017 post of the Reputation album appeared on Swifties’ IG feeds.

PEOPLE also reported that Taylor’s version of “Look What You Made Me Do” appeared in a trailer for Apple TV+’s docuseries The Dynasty: New England Patriots.

But for now, we’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled for the signal: random snakes on Tay Tay’s social media.
