The errors are coming from Raducanu now and she fiddles with her strings, not happy with how the ball is flying off her racquet.

The top seed is really piling on the pressure now, maintaining more control in the rallies.

But she claps in acknowledgement as Raducanu gets one back with a ruthless forehand down the line. That’s the best shot in her arsenal by a long way, an absolute peach.

But a big serve seals the hold.

Sabalenka breaks back

Oh, too much power on the forehand by Raducanu, with Sabalenka at her mercy on the far side of the baseline.

A brilliant second serve return by Sabalenka, down the line, and Raducanu finds herself 0-30 down.

Another costly error by the Brit and the top seed has three break-back points.

Raducanu has started so well but the advantage is nullified as she fires long to gift Sabalenka the break. I bet she’d want that shot again.

Sabalenka holds

Confident start to this game by Sabalenka with a couple of booming serves.

Ooh, Raducanu has a chance with a second serve, but the return is well wide. 40-0.

The top seed tries a drop volley but Raducanu gets her back with a lovely slice drop shot!

The Brit is in the rally, but puts too much heft on the forehand and it sails out.

Raducanu backs up break

A fine serve by Raducanu to start and Sabalenka nets. 90% first serves in for the Brit so far – that’s a percentage she’ll hope to keep up.

Wow, and now a smash sent right back at Sabalenka, for a bit of space. 100% of first serve points won by the Brit so far.

But Sabalenka fights back and the error comes from Raducanu at the end of a 12-shot rally, a down the line strike palmed into the net.

A superb rally follows as both players cover just about every inch of the baseline; Sabalenka goes narrowly wide…

And the top seed has a laugh as she fizzes a sharply-angled return just over the net. 40-30.

Sabalenka has a second serve to attack but it bounces awkwardly and she sends it out!

Raducanu breaks!

Ooh, Sabalenka sends it wide, and Raducanu has another break point…

Saved as the top seed comes to the net to palm away a volley.

But Raducanu has a third chance to break as Sabalenka gets unlucky with a net cord, the ball dropping back onto her side of the net!

And she breaks! Centre Court are on their feet as Raducanu digs deep in the rally, and it’s the top seed who cracks, thumping into the net!

Both players know just how high the stakes are in this one. “Come on!” shouts the Belarusian as she puts away a smash.

Huge cheers greet a wildly wayward forehand…

Raducanu tries a drop shot and it’s not a bad idea, but Sabalenka demonstrates a deft touch of her own with a drop shot in reply.

Another forehand long by the top seed and the crowd roar their encouragement as Raducanu gets to 30-30… and the Brit disrupts her with a backhand slice before sending a winner down the line. Break point Raducanu.

Saved with an ace. Deuce.

Raducanu holds to love

A lovely backhand down the line by Raducanu to kick this service game off. Every point won is punctuated by a fist pump; she looks pretty composed out there, focused on the task at hand.

A puff of paint comes off the grass with a fine ace down the T; and Sabalenka dumps into the net to secure a love hold. This is what the Centre Court crowd wanted to see. One minute and 30 seconds on the court for that game.

Raducanu opens with a strong wide serve and second strike hammered into the open court, but then a double fault. First serves are going to be so important in this one.

An ace is followed by a roar of “Come on!” and plenty of applause.

Two errors by Sabalenka, the second a first serve return palmed into the net, and that’s Raducanu on the board with a tidy hold.

Two enormous serves wipe them out, and the Belarusian gets on the board as she redirects Raducanu and slams the ball in behind her.
