A jetski crash in a river in Sydney’s south has tragically killed one teenager and left another teen in a critical condition.
Emergency crews were called to the Georges River at Sylvania about 6pm on Tuesday after reports of a possible drowning near Tom Ugly’s Bridge.
Police and paramedics located two teenagers in the water, with emergency responders jumping in to the river to help rescue the pair.
One teenager was pulled unresponsive from the water and CPR was given at the scene.
Paramedics were unable to revive the teenager and they died at the scene.
A second teenager who was suffering from traumatic injuries was rescued from the water.
Ambulance crew and a specialist medical team treated and stabilised the teen.
The second teen was then sedated and placed into an induced coma before being transported by road to Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick.
They remain in a critical condition while early reports suggested both teens were riding a jetski at the time of the incident.
Police have established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the tragic crash.
